Honorable judges ,teachers and dear students, good morning My name is……. I am from QinYang vocational school. I am glad to be here. Today my topic is “Saving Our Mother—the Earth “
I’d like to begin my topic with my dream. A few days ago, I had a dream, I became a doctor. I had my clinic on the Mars. One day after I finished curing a patient, another one came in. Oh, my God! It was our mother— the earth. She was crying.” Doctor, please save me! Please save me!”
Her terrible looking frightened me. She looked weak and painful. She said,” Doctor, I am dying. Look! My Skin — the forests are being cut down by people, my blood —the rivers and oceans are being polluted by the waste from the factories, my children —the people and animals are killing each other. My whole body is covered with wounds. Please save me!”
Suddenly, I woke up. Bless me! It was just a dream. But would it be a dream forever? Man did not have to think about the protection of the environment before, as there were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to be unlimited. Today things are different. The world has become too crowed. Our natural resources are being used up and the environment is
being polluted by human beings.
Now , please look at the sky, black smog is full of the sky. We can’t see the blue sky. You can see lots of cars in the streets. They give off terrible gas every second. And you can see factory chimneys giving off black smoke. So we have to breathe the polluted air. Waste water is given off from factories. It directly flows into rivers and oceans. So we have to drink the polluted water and eat the polluted food everyday. And you can hear noise from time to time. More and more people die from the illness, which caused by pollution. And now nature is punishing us. If we don’t do anything to save the earth, maybe the dream will become true in the near future. At that time, we can do nothing but cry for what we have done to nature.
No nature, no life! Just imagine, if there were no trees no flowers and no animals in the world, only pollutants were left, how terrible it would be! We have only one earth. Don’t let our mother — the earth cry! If we want to live a better life and have a brighter future, we must do our best to protect her now, not only for the well-being of ourselves, but also for that of our future generations.
What can we do to save our mother — the earth? As one of her children, as a student, we should make good use of every piece
of paper, we should not litter rubbish here and there; we should use eco-friendly bags when we go shopping. We should collect used batteries, we should protect flowers and trees and plant trees every year .we should go to school on foot or by bike or by bus instead of driving cars. We shouldn’t use throwaway chopsticks and plastic bags. We should save natural resources at any time. Not only do we protect the earth, but also we tell people around us to do so. Today, I find the distance between the reality and dream is a step-70 centimeters. When I stand the honor place, I tell a dream that I will spend my whole life to make it come true.
As we all know, at the beginning of 20xx, the fog and the haze lay over most cities. Most citizens, especially children, suffer from the respiratory disease. The paper, 《Analysis towards environmentally sustainable future state of the environment of the people's Republic of China》, reports that although Chinese government try to control of atmospheric pollution, there are also seven-tenth cities that the most seriously polluted in China. There are less than 1 percent of 500 big cities in China meeting the quality standards of World Health Organization. Does the world like this? Is there anyone tell me why it is contrary to my dream?
In my dream, people are wealthy, living the well-off life. Instead of hurrying to work, they enjoy the sunshine and the boundless blue in the morning and tell the stories about millions of starts and the moon to their children under the sky. People are full of love. They love the nature, family, compatriot and foreigners.
In my dream, the green surround the city in a beautiful style. People like to plant trees, flowers and grass, attracting birds and butterflies to sing and play. Trees are so high that cover the roads and prevent dust flying. People walk with green, then own a good mood and eyes health. Most believe where there is the green, there is a will.
In my dream, people are so clever and creative. They invent something new vehicles to replace cars and substitute new resources for oil. They make the world beautiful and air fresh. Everybody loves breathing and doing exercise anywhere.
In my dream, my parents and my children live in the world I dream.
Maybe the question is hard to answer. But I will fight for my dreams. And now I know I am not alone, or making a daydream. After The eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, our country decides to take ecological civilization into the social construction. I thought if Iwas a soldier, I should be able to swim, dive andclimb trees as he did. It seemed to be verywonderful. So I began to learn swimming, diving andclimbing trees. I practiced every day and finally Icould do them well. But when I entered junior highschool and had the military training. I suddenlyfound that being a soldier was very difficult and Iwasn't strong enough to bear it . I had to give mydream up.
But I wasn't discouraged, and I had new aim, which was to be a postman, or rather to bea newspaper boy. As a newspaper boy. I could speed along streets on a bike and thrownewspapers onto every porch. But to my disappointment, the jobwhich I wanted only existed in western counties not in China, because there was no porch inChina. And Chinese postmen had to stuff very thick newspapers into very small mailboxes fromvery narrow entrances. The job was far from what I had expected. So once again my dream fellthrough.
Perhaps you have had the same experience as I and most of your dreams haven't cometrue yet. But I think it doesn't matter, because if you have a dream, you'll make many effortsto realize it. This course is really important. If I hadn't dreamt of being a soldier or anewspaper boy. I wouldn't have learned to swim, to dive, to climb trees or to ride a if our dream can't come true, you'll learn much from the efforts you have made.
